Born and raised on the North coast of Northern Ireland, Alastair Bell spent much of his time on the family farm, where the seeds of his future dreams were sown. In 1979, he came across a cassette tape with the message “spread a little happiness”. It stuck with him, becoming a lifelong inspiration in all he did. In 2017, from the corner of his mind, Alastair thought of a new way to spread happiness: Black Butter. This historical foodstuff could be made with the locally grown Armagh Bramley Apples, a fruit awarded PGI status by the EU. Through local ingredients and culinary alchemy, an incredible new taste of the region was born. Delicious and unique, Alastair’s Irish Black Butter continues to gain accolades and praise from all who taste it. But most importantly, it’s spread more than a little happiness.
