About this product

The 2017 Estate Racina Gewurztraminer Riesling Icewine is a unique and innovative blend of two classic varietals which complement each other perfectly in our signature dry Gewurtztraminer Riesling. This unique twist on our traditional icewine opens up with an irresistible nose of golden pineapple, honey, guava, chamomile, tangerine, and candied lemon that shows great intensity and exotic complexity. The palate is beautifully balanced, with the Riesling providing balancing acidity to the Gewurztraminer’s rich texture and decadent character.

Fermentation
Stainless steel at 15°C (59°F) for approximately 10 weeks
Pairings
This wine is perfect as an aperitif or digestif, with its bright acidity and irresistibly decadent, exotic fruit notes. It is lovely with desserts less sweet than the icewine, like carrot cake or peach crumble, or as a dessert on its own. And it has not met a cheese that it does not like.
The Vintage
The 2017 vintage showcased a wide-ranging summer; a healthy mix of rain and sun was followed by an extended heatwave into the fall, allowing time for grapes to fully ripen their aromatic qualities. Harvest dates followed a classic timeline, and the cooler nights of the summer helped enhance the aromatic quality of white varietals. Night harvest by hand was a touch early this vintage, with −9°C (16°F) on December 21st.
